Making the First Essex a Climate Leader

Balancing our ambitious climate goals and our affordability crisis is the toughest task of this legislative session. We passed H5175 An Act relative to energy affordability, clean power and economic competitiveness, which accomplishes both goals.

I’ve worked with our most severely impacted coastal zones to prepare for climate change. Governor Healey's Mass Ready Act incorporated into this sweeping environmental bond bill measures that I filed, including: efforts that reduce the costs and time to permit salt marsh restoration work and funds for a statewide buyback program for homes in climate-impacted zones. I have advocated for the most impacted parts of the district to be first in line for the administration's resilient coastline project which will guide how we address climate change for homes, infrastructure, and businesses.

This district has exceptional climate innovators. I’ve brought state leaders here to see how this work can spur our state’s ambitious housing and climate goals. I continue to work on solutions for the Merrimack River and its complex CSO problems.
